The common wisdom says that the answer is simple it is not. To be sure, it is an open scientific question why our society has the obesity problem that it does. The "fat people can be happy and healthy" group as well as the "put the fucking fork down" group are both responsible for propagating ignorance about health, nutrition, weight, and most importantly, our scientific knowledge about how these things are related. Namely, the issue of obesity involves a lot of ignorance and cultural bias to be sure, I'm not just talking about one group. However, it happens to intersect an issue which invites a great deal of ignorance to the table on all sides of the debate, which has been evinced in both the blogger response to the game as well as even some off handed remarks on this forum in the PS3 thread. I'm looking forward to it and I'm hoping most people can enjoy it without the obnoxious baggage it looks like it's bringing along. The game sounds to me like quite an amusing and clever idea in and of itself. does anybody actually think there's grounds to be offended here? I really doubt there'll be any traction or pressure on Sony/Titan to change it (especially considering the huge reaction it got at E3, many named it their Game of the Show). Neither one has properly articulated why having a Fat Princess in the game is inherently bad. Mighty Ponygirl at least tried to make a constructive suggestion, although I have to admit a huge part of the charm for me is the fact that it is a Fat Princess that is the flag, and not just a generic treasure chest. This is classic kneejerk reaction in my opinion. "Does it make it better or worse that the concept artist (who designed the look, characters, everything) is a girl?" Sony has yet to issue an official response, although Joystiq did receive a particularly informative update from James Green, Fat Princess' lead art director, who clued gamers in on the origins of the game: Over at Shakesville, however, writer Melissa McEwan cuts to the chase, telling Sony she's "positively thrilled to see such unyielding dedication to creating a new generation of fat-hating, heteronormative assholes." The more gold in the chest, the heavier it would be, and the harder it would be to carry," she said, before adding, "Oh, but that's not as "cute" as cake and fat chicks. "Instead of running out into the forest to find cake to fatten up the princess with, why not go out and find gold (which is a lot heavier than cake) to stuff into a treasure chest. Debuting at last week's E3 expo, the colorful Fat Princess is a capture-the-flag game with a twist: you can thwart capture attempts by locking the once-thin princess in a dungeon and stuffing her full of cake, thereby increasing her girth and making her harder for your enemies to haul back to home base.įeminist Gamer's "Mighty Ponygirl" rings in diplomatically, suggesting a new way to play the game altogether. She's Fat Princess, the star of Sony's upcoming video game of the same name. * 32-player Online Skirmish – Jump in and join as many as 32 players online to wreak havoc on the battlefield and carry your stout princess back home during the conflict * Unique Game Modes – Select from several various game types: Rescue the Princess, Thwart the Invasion, and Medieval Games * Resources & Upgrades – Work together to collect resources to upgrade your primitive weapons and basic castle defenses into superior armaments and impenetrable fortifications ![]() * Experience intense frantic gameplay across diverse, charming and challenging environments * 10 Unique Maps – There will be 10 maps total, shared across single & multiplayer modes * 5 Character Classes – Change your avatar's character anytime by swapping hats: Worker, Warrior, Archer, Mage and Priest * Casual Single & Multiplayer Online/Offline Action – Cooperate with your team of medieval soldiers (up to 16 players on each side) to overthrow the opponent’s army, plunder their castle and save the princess The name of the game is cooperation, whether it’s helping another player drag a log back to your castle, manning a battering ram to smash through the enemy’s front gate, or building a human pyramid to scramble over the walls.
